Leanne's heart skips with joy when she sees her comrade and friend Nephenee. It is interesting and somewhat unexpected to see her here; the young woman was not a soldier by choice, initially, but frequently helped Queen Elincia when she needed it. Perhaps she wanted to see the world outside, or heard how many of her comrades had taken up residency at Garreg Mach.
"Nephenee!" Regardless, she is quite excited! Leanne presents her with the bag of cookies one of the kitchen attendants so kindly helped her bake. "It is so good to see you! How have you been?"
There ain't nothin' like sittin' under the shade of a tree.
Nephenee sits propped against a gnarled old trunk, book draped across her lap. It details common lance techniques found all across Fodlan, including step-by-step pictures of different forms. A kind-hearted older knight had lent it to her after Nephenee asked for ways to improve her skill.
Mouth moves silently over the words. Readin' didn't come easy; sure, she knew her letters, but that don't--doesn't--mean she's a scholar.
Her head snaps up at the call of her name. She squints into the sunlight a moment, face lighting up in recognition. "Hello, Leanne! Wha--oh, thank you kindly." Nephenee accepts the offered cookies, cradlin' them gently. "Been fine. I didn't know you were here as well."

"Oh, Lor--Si--Ike! Hello!" Leanne remembers Ike's disdain for titles a little too late, but she catches herself at least! It is wonderful to see him again. Garreg Mach seems a place that will meld well with his spirit, and he's already got some of the people dearest to him here! "I am so happy to see you! It seems as if I will be a student underneath you. I shall do my best!"
At this point Ike would have to let go of the idea of being alone here. Not that he minded, of course, its just hard to be shocked at a sudden reunion after running into Leanne of all people at a combat school.
Yet it made sense, in a way. After what the Herons had gone through...
And Leanne herself certainly fit in with the monasteries architecture. Ike couldn't help but smirk at the idea of how many people would mistake her for some kind of temple priestess.
"Look who it is! Good to see you, Leanne. So you're thinking of picking up the sword, huh? I wont lie to you, its going to be some hard training and I wont hold back if it means sending you into the field unprepared."

"It is very cute," Kurthnaga smiles at the creature on the card that Leanne points at. It reminds him a bit of Leanne, with how fluffy and cute it looks. He glances between it and the heron in front of him, laughing gently at the comparison, "Though, maybe it has its own way of fighting. Everyone does I suppose."
He kicks his legs gently under the table with an odd sort of glee at Leanne's suggestion. He'd never played a card game before, and certainly never made one before.
But they were meant to have fun! And if this was what was going to make it fun, then they should be allowed to do whatever they wanted!
"That is true! There is no saying that we have to follow every rule put before us. The goal of playing a game like this is to have fun, so there is nothing stopping us from playing our own way!"

nightbird's song
andrei / leanne c support
The vial shatters in his hands, crimson dripping from his fingers like blood, trailing all down his arm. It burns, fire erupting from the liquid and engulfing his arm, until he reaches forward—
—plunging it into Lady Sister's heart, and the smile on her face freezes, but does not disappear. Her warm brown eyes seek him out—
('Lady Sister, I'm sorry—')
'It's alright. I never believed you were a good person anyway.'
Andrei awakens with a gasp, muted from his long months of habit, and stares at the ceiling above him, trying to calm himself by listening to the sounds of the other students' breaths around him. Lady Sister Brigid's voice remains in his mind, like a vice around his throat, his breath coming quicker, shallower until darkness threatens at the corners of his vision.
Before it could fully overtake him, Andrei sits upright in a fluid motion, drawing a cloak around him as he makes his way out of the room.
Making the long trek up the tunnels to the surface, one step in front of the other, his pace steady against the stone to keep his thoughts at bay as much as possible. Finally the long journey ends, and he emerges into the midnight air, where he takes a slow breath. Now that he is here, at the surface, he does not know where to go, this late in the night.
(He doesn't know what to do, either.)
Then, a haunting, almost mournful song pierces the silence, and Andrei stops mid-motion, head turning to what he feels is the source of the voice. The song is beautiful, certainly, but there is a sadness to it that draws him. Without thinking, his feet take him forward.
It takes a surprisingly long time to reach the tree where the song is coming from; the voice had carried much further than he'd thought capable. The song stops when he approaches the tree, and as Andrei looks up, he sees a young woman with snow-white wings, looking down in his general direction. She mutters at him (or at herself, he cannot tell) unintelligibly for a moment, before beginning to speak in a way he could understand.
"Hello, you are...?"
"...Andrei."
"Mm. I am Leanne."
"Leanne," Andrei echoes. Her wings make her look somewhat like an angel, even framed against the shadows of the trees above, though he thinks she might, more realistically, be one of the bird people like Naesala is. "What are you doing, singing in the night like this?"
Leanne tilts her head down at him as though he'd asked a silly question, but her expression quickly turns somber. She closes her eyes briefly, as though hearing a song of her own.
"You are... afraid."
What?
"What are you talking about?" Andrei demands, taking a step back, feeling accused of a crime.
"There is, hmm, fear, in your heart."
"There isn't," he growls out. What had he to fear from some bird girl? This is hardly where he'd envisioned the conversation going, and in an instant, he turns to leave, but Leanne calls out to him again.
"Oh, wait, wait...!" When Andrei grudgingly looks back up, he finds a sheepish expression replacing her earlier, serious countenance. "You... help me?"
He does not wish to do as she says, not after that, but she suddenly looks so helpless that he relents after a moment. "...What?"
"It is... very dark. I cannot see. You bring me to the... hmm, dormitories, please?"
The destination is pronounced with clear, slow enunciation, as though learned recently and diligently practiced. Andrei looks at the sky. The quarter moon glows softly in the darkness, illuminating the path below. "Have your eyes not adjusted to the dark?"
"No... You will help me?"
"...Fine, then."
"Thank you!"
And that is all the warning Andrei got before Leanne leaps from the thick branch she had been sitting on, directly towards him, wings slack with little indication that she means to break her own fall.
"!!" By instinct alone, the archer reaches to catch her, finding her surprisingly light as she tumbles into his arms, almost more like a child than the grown woman she looks the part of.
What is happening??
"Why did you do that?" Andrei demands of her, setting her down on her feet none too gently — oh, now she fluffs out her wings, fluttering gracefully a few inches back and looking much too pleased with herself. He'd seen Naesala's wings in the aftermath of the mission. Did they not break easily? How could she be so reckless in the face of an utter stranger?
"I was not afraid. I know, you will catch me."
It is the clearest sentence she'd spoken so far, words steady with a conviction that seems to pierce his very soul. Andrei stills, fighting an sudden, unexplainable rush of emotion at her statement... and Leanne takes this chance to slip her hand into his, looking at him with an undeserved trust.
"Dormitories, please," she chirps cheerfully, and Andrei gives a sigh, turning and allowing her to hold onto his hand as he leads her forward, back down the path towards the monastery.
"What is your house?" Andrei asks after a short silence. It doesn't appear as though the dormitories are separated by house, exactly, but having the distinction might make finding her room easier.
"Ah... Golden Deers!"
"...It's 'Deer'."
"Hmm?"
"The plural for 'deer' is still 'deer'. You do not add an s to it."
"But why?"
...It's just like explaining things to Patricia. Andrei takes a deep breath. "There is no reason. It is how the word works."
Leanne makes a thoroughly discontented noise in response, but remains quiet for the rest of the journey, merely the sound of her rustling feathers and the warmth of her hand in his denoting her presence.
"Here are the dormitories," Andrei announces as they reach the row of rooms, lit in faint torchglow for the nighttime stragglers.
Leanne's head swivels around as she gets her bearings, squinting in the darkness — is her vision truly so poor? — before her expression brightens as she points out one of the doors. "There!"
She looks back at him expectantly then, and, feeling obligated, Andrei leads her right to the doorstep, until she can reach her hand out, feeling around until she touches the knob. She turns around with a sunny smile. "Thank you, Sir Andrei!"
"...You are welcome," Andrei replies, stiff and automatic. Leanne's expression softens suddenly, and she leans in a little.
"You are... a good person. Do not be afraid."
Andrei's eyes widen. "I'm not—" The words burst out of him before he is even sure what he's negating, exactly, but Leanne only gives him one last smile, slipping through her door and closing it behind her.
He stands there for a long moment, silent and pondering, before turning away, towards the gradually lightening sky, feeling oddly as though a weight had been lifted off his chest.
Are all the bird people so... weird?

The letters on the posterboard are big and clear, and after a while of forming the words silently on her tongue, Leanne figures out what the bottom two lines say.
What a funny idea!
If there was ever a similar tradition among the laguz, or specifically the herons, Leanne is not aware. It gives her a nostalgic feeling, nonetheless; not for the first time, she thinks about her own father, back home in Serenes. She hopes he is doing well.
With that thought, the heron sets off to collect a handful of wildflowers, including in each one a small burst of seid magic. For joy, for calmness, for good spirits.
"For you," she says with a grin as she approaches the beorc. He looks absolutely nothing like her own father, but there is a similar feeling of warmth and kindness emanating from his heart, though...
Leanne pauses, tilting her head as though listening for a moment. It is as if there are beats missing from the rhythm of his heart, odd blanks here and there where there should be an endless font of past experiences to guide his emotions. Weird... but she dismisses the odd feeling after a few seconds. Maybe it's just the number of people here that's impeding her senses! She holds out the small bouquet.
"You are... very kind... hmm, a good father!" she says cheerfully. Even from what little she's gleaned of his heart, she can tell for certain.
She hopes this day, and every one thereafter, is joyous for him as well.
The only time Lambert had seen someone with wings like that was when he looked up at one of the monastery’s many stained glass windows, and saw one featuring the Goddess and her children. Though her features had been simplified, she was depicted with lilies in her hair and a pair of giant ivory feathered wings. Until today, Lambert thought that was simply an artistic liberty.
Well, sort of. He had become aware that winged people existed somewhat, case in point being Andrei’s ball companion. But that man’s wings were dark and crow-like. That girl’s though…in the professor’s eyes, they were much closer than to what he imagined the Goddess of Fódlan to look like. Big, feathered and pale white.
In the end however, she was simply a student. With wings and the most gentle eyes he had ever seen on someone- so gentle in fact that it almost felt like she could see right through his soul which was a mildly disturbing thought, but in the end a young girl like many others. The cheerfullness in her steps and carefree air surrounding her were if anything, soothing.
“That is a beautiful arrangement! Part of me wonders if you picked those flowers with any meaning in mind, or if they were simply what the island had in offer? Haha, I sadly have poor knowledge of flowers and their meanings.” He laughed softly, cradling the bouquet with as much care as he could so as to not accidentally crush any of the plants. "You have my gratitude for this lovely gift!"
"You are... very kind... hmm, a good father!"
It was a tad out of the blue, even more considering how he had never met this girl before, and he was very much sure that he hadn’t exactly divulged the fact that he was indeed a father- or at least was quite sure of it, to the general public. If anything…he was pretty sure that only perhaps one or two people had been told that by now, one of which still finding it difficult to accept it much to Lambert’s understanding as well as sadness.
Then…how did she know? Morion couldn’t have told her, and Dimitri…most definitely didn’t tell a single soul.
“You…really think so?” But he chose to think about that later, blinking his astonishment away and replacing it with a sheepish laugh. “Thank you. That means the world to me.”
It did, genuinely. Considering how by now he had started to seriously wonder if his past self was not as good or kind as he thought he was, if those tears flowing down Dimitri’s face had been because of his poor parenting. If he had caused more hurt than love and now found himself too blinded by his own amnesia to realize that he had never been a good man.
He hoped that this mysterious winged girl’s words were right, he truly did.

“Quite well so far, Leanne. Though there are certainly more people here than at the balls I attended in my youth. I hope you are enjoying yourself as well, my friend.” He smiles at her simple joy over the cup of tea. Though it is strange to him, he knows that Leanne would certainly prefer the natural world over anything else. She had lived her life surrounded by nature after all, while he had been confined in Goldoa’s stone walls, a captive little prince yearning for the world outside. They came from the same continent, and yet he hardly knew a thing about Tellius outside of what he had seen with his own eyes - which, admittedly, was not very much... at least not the parts of it that he may have wished to see from reading books about the world.
“Oh! My own is Earth. I would happily provide a flower for you. It almost feels like a shame that we were not provided with any to begin with. Bare vines without any flowers blooming on them are quite dull indeed! Kurthnaga did always find himself fascinated with the natural world, from the books that he had read detailing lush forests that he could not see. He had only seen mountains and craggy rocks - and the ocean, were he look out the right window - when he had poked his young head out of the palace’s large windows, hoping to see something that he deemed to be unfamiliar.
“It must be quite a shame to you as well. I know you do so enjoy nature.”
Tea: Just what it says on the tin! There’s a wide variety of herbs, berries, fruits, and other flavors, brewed in a way that requires the leaves to be scooped out afterwards. Mmm nature
"Oh, thank you Kurth!" The kindly prince offers her a tea that smells strongly floral and herby, sweetness tinging its wildness. They've gotten to know each others' tastes fairly well, over their time in diplomatic circles and at Garreg Mach. She appreciates having such a good laguz friend from Tellius in her life here; while she loves the new connections she has made, having someone who she does not need to explain shifting or Serenes to is nice. "How has the ball been treating you?"
She takes a sip from the cup. Oh, this is almost like a dream the way it blends so well, a perfect temperature on her tongue! Perhaps their patrons had ordained it so, though their control over the situation seems to be far less absolute than one would have in a dreamscape.
"Oh! Before I forget. Which elemental mark have you been granted? Mine is water, as you can see." Leanne holds out her free hand to Kurthnaga, making a little pleased sound as she samples more of the tea. "We should exchange flowers, if you are not already in need of mine!"

when the day met the night ☀☾ team 10
@exclted @swiftscion @nagaficat @allegreta
Ephidel found that in the nightly hours, when he stalked the night sleepless and the humans laid their bodies and minds to rest, his seemed to drift just the same. It happened slowly. The digits of his body began to respond less. Then the limbs. Then the rest. Until his mind seemed to rise above his frame and warp from it.
Until golden eyes opened to a coliseum of people demanding entertainment. Ephidel glanced around himself; saw others from the monastery with strange weapons in all their hands. What was all this? Were they to play fools for these vermin’s approval? He would not dance this waltz for such a reason, and idly inspected the needle and syringe he found in his grasp. And there, clasped around one finger, he had also been adored with a ring.
This all made little sense, and before he could ponder it further, a large stone door opened on the far wall of the coliseum, and out flew a phoenix shimmering in a rainbow of light. It stretched its wings and cried a mighty shriek before diving headlong at the lot of them.
Violence, was not the first tool in Ephidel’s arsenal, but he knew how to wield all manner of magic and blade, and he wasted no time in using what he had been gifted.
He tucked and rolled out of the way of incoming talons, and readied a stance for the next opening. When the bird swooped in again, he leaped to its back and drove the needle deep. It seemed to have no effect, the bird’s hide thick and battle worn, and so Ephidel broke the needle at the base, sending metal shards deeper into its flesh. The beast howled. It did not seem to take any damage, but an opening had been made.
Ephidel used Slatterslash with the Injector! Roll 1d20+2! 14+2=16! Hit! -0HP
Twin Soul 10/10 HP
Twin Soul receives -1 DEF/RES for 1 turn
The great beast had just as little patience for Ephidel as he had for it, and turned to peak at the flea on its back. A direct hit to his shoulder weakened the strings in his arm, and Ephidel’s grasp released, sending him plummeting to the ground.
Twin Soul countered with Sharp Beak! Roll 1d20! 8! Hit! -1.5HP
Ephidel’s HP 8.5/10

"Ah, hello!" Leanne is excited to see a fellow laguz, and a vulpine one at that! He's almost certainly not from tellius, she's never heard tell of a fox laguz, but there is still a connection between them that she feels wholeheartedly. "I am Leanne, of the heron tribe. May I ask your name?"
Kaden’s eyes widened in shock, attention instantly drawn to the wings. “Whoa, you have wings?! I didn’t know humans could do that!” All concept of keeping a respectful distance flies out the window, the kitsune taking a step forward and titling his head back and forth to get a better look. Without touching, of course. That would be rude. Maybe this is how humans feel when they see a kitsune like him for the first time? “Haha. Weird.”
His tail wags softly in amusement at the new perspective, mortified realization hitting him a few seconds after. His ears pinned themselves down to his head in distress as he jumped back, waving his hands in an apologetic panic. “Wait, that came out wrong. You don’t look weird, that’s not what I meant! You’re very pretty, miss! I— Ugh, I’m sorry.”
Kaden looks down in embarrassment and guilt. That was… NOT his finest moment. He can only hope she wasn’t too insulted. Ears still slightly downturned, Karen’s attitude flips in an instant, happy grin back on its place. “Lemme try that again. Hi! I’m Kaden, of the beautiful kitsune tribe! Pleasure to meet you, Leanne.”

A Flower, For You ❁ Tibarn & Leanne
@allegreta
Flowers and flower arranging are not things that Tibarn considers himself knowledgeable with. While King Lorazieh, Reyson and later Leanne resided in Phoenicis, it was normal that the Hawks, while out gathering food for them, would also bring some flowers to decorate their rooms. It’s not something they think much about themselves, but when trying to help their brethren feel as welcome and comfortable as they could in spite of the tragedy they endured, small gestures of camaraderie and understanding like that went a long way.
Doesn’t necessarily mean Tibarn has learned anything of note about the art. So when the rumor about the flower vendor setting up shop at the marketplace in preparation for the whole Ethereal Ball thing reaches his ears, his interest is not immediate.
It’s only when he realizes he might find a certain someone there that he, as usual, puts his current affairs on hold to take a trip to the spot to see if he is correct - and true to form, he is; even among a sizable group of students, that pair of snow-white wings is easy to spot.
(“Hello there, Leanne.”)
The few words of ancient tongue that he can speak feel a little funny on his lips - though he has remembered and preserved what little he could, it nevertheless has been years since he last used it. Chuckling, he drops it quickly.
“It’s nice to see you. Figured I’d find you here. How have you been?”

L’Arachel would be lying if she didn’t puff up over her own skill with the dart prompting this new emphasis on presentation. While of course, darts was an immoral game relished by sin-ridden souls, L’Arachel was really very good at it.
Darts continue to pierce red centres one after the other. Like so many arrows plunging into so many hearts, or perhaps a sword’s blade cleaving home. Even these temporary entertainments, time-wasters, were suggestive of the grave.
She supposed that made sense for an immoral game. The sinner chasing sin. The Princess, of course, was beyond this. A belief she held with the most iron-clad of hypocrisies.
It was time. Dart flush with her cheek, she readies herself to throw. She is bound to hit the bullseye, and win the entire game. Then would come the accolades, the rewards, the teary embraces.
Tilting on a blade’s edge, she readies her arm… and a voice breaks the silence of concentration. The dart flies awry, piercing the wall. Ah. ‘The fates decree this game be left incomplete. A shame. The good Doctor and I would have had the game quite in hand.’ Conditionals were L’Arachel’s darling plaything. Claims that could be substantiated by a higher power only she had the ear of. Statements such as ‘We shall emerge unharmed’, dangling in uncertainty when spoken, but true to her heart. Because they had to be.
‘Come, let us dine!’ Looping arm with her partner, L’Arachel leads the charge to dinner.

“ Ah, so you are still looking for your Winter Envoy, is that so… ? I am permitted to lend you a hint then if you wish for it.
“ Your Winter Envoy states that they are among birds often. It might do you well to search for a winged friend then in your attempts to find them. Best of luck, Ophelia, and may your search be fruitful! ”
IS THAT SO...? an outlier amongst the flock... ” ophelia nods, his mind wandering off to the cast of classmates and friends he was familiar with. though despite the thought, there was the lingering reminder that he didn’t have to be acquainted to the winter envoy in order for them to act upon their gifts. fingers tap in rhythm against the music box’s lid— his mind is too far in speculation to realize kent’s departure. it’s this train of wonder that pulls ophelia in a stride, only stopping once he’s before the quarters of a classmate. not one he knew as well as he hoped to.
( @allegreta, leanne )
ophelia is already composed when the door is pulled open. " AHA!! dusk has uncovered her winter envoy! " in their hands rests the small music box, carried with such gentleness that it seems odd to their character. they grin, “ so, am i right? are you the mysterious envoy that bestowed upon me the greatest of presents? ”
and if so, well, she had many kind words to give in return. she has two pages of kind words, actually!

Registered sex offenders in Ontario would not be able to legally change their names if a bill that's before the legislature passes.
The legislation jointly introduced this week by Progressive Conservatives Laurie Scott and Laura Smith is all but ensured passage, with their party -- which has a majority in the legislature-- supporting it.
"This bill, if passed, will stop the Karla Homolkas from becoming the Leanne Teales," Smith said, referring to the infamous killer and her name change.
"We just feel that the right to change somebody's name should not be abused. We want to strengthen our province's commitment to zero tolerance to these offenders and their heinous crimes and put our full support behind the victims and the families ... We have to close up this loophole."

this comment on my leanne servant apple tv post is so real
like this has got to be my least favorite thing about this era of #media #consumption. the NEVER ending fight to prove that characters are like. morally upright bastions of good and have never done anything wrong and if you think otherwise you're actually an abuse apologist and you hate trauma survivors and also are anti-women. and it's like. hello. first of all. why do you need your fav characters on your fav shows to be right about everything. why are you staking your identity on how pure blorbo from the television is. why can't you just enjoy a story for a story and a character for a character without playing the who's the least problematic game. that's the absolute worst thing about succession fans too. like girls will truly tussle over which megalomaniac gazillionaire is the least """problematic""". they're all problematic! get a life!
#i WANT her to be satan and so should everyone else!!!!#additionally! satan paradise lost has layers and so does leanne#she IS traumatized and she IS rebelling from an abusive cult and she DOES have god powers that she#uses to absolutely fucking torture people and she IS holding the turner family hostage because she's#extremely maladjusted and yes she has a great capacity for evil and i support that!!#let me tell you. using tumblr in a google app tab on one's phone. not easy
